A trip to Cabot Circus

I made a field trip to Cabot Circus. The purpose of this trip to was to help drive ideas for my Creative Technology Toolkit coursework.

We are being asked to research, design and develop an interactive Audio/Visual system based on some aspect of nature for kids that will be designed for installation in a specific context in Bristol. The system will use a sensor or data input from two or more sources and output in any medium we decide. The system will exhibit some identifiable kind of complex behavior or intelligence.

The assignment has been broken down into different stages. The first being the research phase is what I am currently undergoing.

Cabot Circus is a shopping centre in Bristol. It is adjacent to Broadmead, a shopping district in Bristol City Centre. It has over 90 shops, a great mix of restaurants and a multi-screen cinema.

I got to the centre at around 2:30 PM on the 9th of October coming from Filton and left by 3:15 PM. It is a very busy environment with people visiting for different purposes. Some of which were: shopping, gaming, eating, seeing movies etc.

It also has spaces for exhibitions and retail stands whereby brands could advertise or market their products.

Due to the busy nature of the Cabot Circus, It was quite difficult to focus on a specific group of people from my standpoint.
