Studio

Tomi Abe Studio is my independent creative technology practice. It is where I work with clients, build ideas of my own, and make room to learn by doing.

The practice has changed shape since 2013. Design, technology, research and media have all had a place in it. What has stayed constant is my interest in making complex things clearer and more useful to people.

The practice

With others

I help teams work through questions about products, information and communication. That can mean finding direction, shaping an experience, or building the thing itself.

See selected work

On my own

I use the studio to test ideas that do not begin with a brief. Some become tools or ongoing projects. Others stay small, but teach me something worth carrying into the next piece of work.

Independent projects

A selection of tools and experiments built through the studio. Each is still open to change.

Polish

Design tools

Working together

There is no fixed menu. I can advise on direction, take ownership of a defined project, or join a team for a stretch of work. The first step is a conversation about what you are trying to make or change.
